Arkansas requires both a RID or NRD licence as well as a Level 5 (highest) ranking through the state’s QAST (Quality Assurance Screening Test) system.
Once an interpreter reaches Level 5 the licence is permanent. Howevery they must submit 10 Continuting Education Units to maintain their level.
A Level 4 ranking is awarded for 5 years at which time the interpreter but be re-screened. Level 4 is authorized to work in all cases except, criminal/civil court and extensive mental health therapy.
